"I served two tours of duty in Vietnam in 1967 & 1968, and like so many other Vietnam Veterans of my era, I contracted Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a real epidemic running rampant through many vets of the Vietnam War, and is an insidious retroactive disease that lays dormant for decades then strikes with a vengeance. You can carry the virus for years, as I did, and never know you have it until it hits you. When it hit me, it came on hard. I was diagnosed three years ago with the disease and also found, through a liver biopsy, that the disease has now caused severe cirrhosis and fibrosis of the liver as well. My doctor told me that on a scale of 1 to 4, with 1 being healthy and 4 being end stage liver disease, I was a 3. So I started a very difficult daily Ribivirin and weekly interferon injection treatment which very quickly caused severe anemia. Now I had to take the medication Procrit to counteract the serious drug induced hemolytic anemia that was now a major medical issue for me in addition to the Hep-C.
After a long consultation with my doctors it was mutually determined that conventional treatment was not helping. The present drug therapy I was undergoing was deemed unsuccessful and to continue the course of treatment would only worsen my health. The decision was made to discontinue treatment immediately. According to the experts my next step was to prepare myself for the inevitable, a liver transplant somewhere in the future. It was at this point that I made the commitment to do everything in my power to do use natural and alternate methods possible to avert the ravages of my liver disease and use noni juice as the main ingredient in my recovery. I modified my diet to include organic raw fruits and vegetables, daily doses of vitamins, along with at least one meal replacement of the complete protein powder containing noni mixed with fresh juices and six ounces (180 mls) of noni juice twice daily, morning and evening. Almost immediately I began to feel better, and within a month I had more energy than I had felt in years. My skin color lost its jaundice, and when I returned in 90 days for my doctor’s check up, I had lost 30 pounds. I was brimming with energy and my liver enzymes were lower than they had ever been. They are remaining that way too. Today I enjoy my life to the fullest, and even with my impaired liver function I show no apparent limitations or effects of the severity of my health condition. I have learned to pace myself, I continue to watch my diet, keep stress at a minimum and I sustain my health by drinking a liter of noni juice a week for good maintenance."
